Zapora główna Czorsztyn - Niedzica to największa w Polsce zapora ziemna o wysokości 56 i długości 404 metry. Woda z Jeziora Czorsztyńskiego przepływa przez dwie sztolnie do usytuowanej poniżej zapory elektrowni wodnej, poruszając dwie turbiny. Ilość uwalnianej w ten sposób ekologicznie czystej energii szacowana jest na około 160 mln kWh rocznie. Po przejściu przez elektrownię woda uchodzi do Jeziora Sromowieckiego. Budowa zapory wiązała się z niemałą ingerencją w środowisko naturalne. W trosce o mieszkających tu przedstawicieli fauny powstała sztuczna Ptasia Wyspa, na której ptaki zakładają gniazda lęgowe. Nad Jeziorem Sromowieckim zamontowano bariery uniemożliwiające żabom wchodzenie na drogę, gdzie wcześniej masowo ginęły pod kołami samochodów. Po wschodniej stronie jeziora wybudowano dla nich Żabie Stawy - tam płazy składają skrzek.

Kasprowy Wierch w Zakopanem: Nazwa szczytu pochodzi od leżącej u jego stóp Hali Kasprowej, na której w dawnych czasach górale wypasali swe bydło i owce. Według podań ludowych właścicielem hali był najprawdopodobniej góral o imieniu lub przezwisku Kasper.
